Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) with Metal Rod

Upgraded Combat Application Tourniquet with metal rod, more durable and stronger than normal version. Single-handed operation, easy to use. Where and whenever any accident happens, it can provide a quick and appropriate treatment.

A tourniquet Is the first choice in combat for external hemorrhage from extremity wounds. Metal rod made of special material, provides better quality without adding weight.

√ 90% of combat fatalities occur forward of a medical treatment facility.

√ 75% of combat fatalities have a nonsurvivable injury

√ 25% have a potentially survivable injury. Of those with potentially survivable wounds, 90% die from hemorrhage.

CAT tourniquet is used to control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time. A hook and loop windlass retention strap was applied, securing the windlass to maintain pressure during casualty evacuation. This pressure is transferred to the vessel wall causing a temporary occlusion.100% effective in blocking blood flow in upper and lower limbs.

Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) should be carried by every soldier. Tourniquets are appropriate in combat because direct pressure is hard to maintain during casualty transport under fire.

Damage is rare if the tourniquet is left in place for less than 2 hours. Tourniquets are often left in place for several hours during surgical procedures. It is better to accept the small risk of damage to the limb than to watch a casualty bleed to death. Both you and the casualty are in grave danger while a tourniquet is being applied during this phase, and non-life-threatening bleeding should be ignored until the Tactical Field Care phase.

A soldier was saved when his battle buddies applied two effective improvised tourniquets to his legs, saving his life.

The need for immediate access to a tourniquet in such situations makes it clear that all soldiers on combat missions should have a suitable tourniquet readily available at a standard location on their battle gear and be trained in its use.
