Every comparison of these four bandages answers the same question: which one should you carry? That question has been answered well, many times, by people who carry them.

This one answers a different question. You are stocking a kit line, writing a purchase order, or answering a tender, and you need to know which of the four survives your constraints before you start comparing features.

Then there is the part almost nobody checks. Each of those three has three different published sources — собственную страницу производителя, данные в розничной продаже и реестр устройств FDA — и в этой категории они не согласуются друг с другом. Only one of the three layers is quotable in a tender.

Давящая повязка is the category. It covers any bandage that combines an absorbent pad, an elasticized wrap, and some mechanism for locking pressure onto the wound so the responder’s hands come free. TCCC put the category in a specific clinical slot — limb tourniquets should be converted to hemostatic or pressure dressings once the casualty is stable enough and the wound can be monitored — which is why every trauma kit line carries one of these regardless of which brand wins the comparison.

The Emergency Bandage® / Israeli Bandage® Safeguard Medical
North American Rescue

The column heading above says “manufacturer on the product page” for a reason that becomes important in the registry section below: for one of these four, the company named on the product page is not the company that holds the device registration.

The real mechanical difference is the pressure applicator

Photographs make these four look interchangeable. The variable that separates them is how each one applies pressure and then holds it — and, more usefully for a stocking decision, what each design assumes the person opening the package already knows how to do.

The reversal step is the whole mechanism, and it is also the step a first-time user skips. Take the case of a responder who wraps straight past the bar: the result is a dressing that is tight but not focused — it applies circumferential tension rather than downward pressure on the pad, and it looks correct while doing it. That failure is invisible at the moment of application, which makes it a training item rather than a product defect.

OLAES заменяет планку на чашку давления molded into the pad, which lifts out and doubles as a rigid eye shield. There are no hooks or clips at all. Velcro® control strips and adhesive brakes on the elastic stop the roll running away if it is dropped. Behind the pad sit

Read the missing bar as a design position rather than a gap. A dressing with no applicator has no reversal step to skip, which removes the failure mode described two sections above. What it removes with it is the mechanism that concentrates pressure, so the responder’s own wrapping technique carries more of the load.

An H-shaped cinch sewn into the wrap, which is where the name comes from. Its own product page is the thinnest of the four on published specifications — but, as the registry section shows, thin on the product page and thin in the regulatory record are not the same thing, and for this product they point in opposite directions.

Four pressure applicator types compared: pressure bar, pressure cup, sewn cinch and no applicator

OLAES carries the most in one package. ETD carries the least and says so on purpose. The bar-and-cinch designs sit between them. What that ranking tells you is what each design assumes your end user already knows — which is a training question, and training questions travel with the SKU for years. A related question sits one step earlier — whether a pressure dressing is the right tool at all, or whether the bleed needs a жгут сначала.

If any of your accounts are latex-restricted — schools, many hospitals, several national health services — this is the first filter, and it eliminates options faster than any performance argument.

OLAES® Modular Bandage
Rusun TacMed

Every device sold in the US carries a Unique Device Identifier, and the manufacturer’s submission to the FDA’s device identification database is public through AccessGUDID, run by the US National Library of Medicine. Two of its fields are mandatory declarations rather than marketing copy: whether the device is required to be labeled as

Emergency Bandage, Military & Civilian 4″/6″ EINSTEIN WORKS, LLC
H-Bandage Compression Dressing (+ Thin H) H&H Medical Corporation
Emergency Trauma Dressing 4″ (30-0031)
OLAES Modular Bandage, 4″ flat packed

The three products whose pages say nothing about latex have all filed the “not made with natural rubber latex” labeling declaration with the FDA. OLAES, the only one advertising latex-free construction, has not.

Manufacturer pages and the FDA device registry point at opposite products on latex

The field records whether a labeling declaration was filed, not what the device is made of. A product can be genuinely latex-free and simply never have filed that declaration. What the registry establishes is narrower and, for a tender, more useful: for three of these products a latex-free statement exists in a government database you can cite; for OLAES it exists on the vendor’s own website.

EINSTEIN WORKS, LLC — not to Safeguard Medical or PerSys Medical, the names on the product page and on most of the retail listings. We have not been able to establish the relationship between those entities from public sources, and we are not going to guess at it here. The practical consequence stands on its own:

Если требование — это цитируемая декларация об отсутствии латекса — which is how institutional tenders are usually written — the registry is the relevant layer, and OLAES is the one product of the four that cannot supply it. Those are different questions with opposite answers, and which layer applies depends on the tender wording rather than on the manufacturer.

If the account has no latex restriction, this constraint returns all four products and decides nothing. That is the normal case for military, commercial and general resale lines. It is the first filter because it is the most eliminating when it applies, not because it applies most often.

Stock rotation and tender responses both need a number, and only one of the four publishes one.

OLAES® Modular Bandage

For a distributor the useful reading is about which one you can act on. Shelf life is not a quality ranking — it is a rotation cost. Дата, напечатанная на устройстве, — это то, на что на самом деле опирается ротация запасов, because that is what the person opening the cabinet reads. A number on a website is what you plan the purchase around. If the two layers disagree for a product you are stocking, the one in your warehouse is the one on the package.

How much any of this matters depends on how fast the account turns the stock. If the SKU turns fast — a training line, a high-consumption EMS account — none of this eliminates anything, and you should not let it. Apply the constraint to slow-moving stock and to tenders with an explicit expiry line. Ranking four products on shelf life when the stock turns in a year optimizes a number that never gets tested.

One thing the registry does settle for all four: every one of them is registered as поставляемый стерильным.

Published dimensions: when a retailer listing and the manufacturer specification disagree on pad size

This is the third layer, and it takes about four minutes to check.

Safeguard Medical publishes pad dimensions on its own product pages:

Now compare that with what circulates. Google’s AI Overview for “israeli bandage dimensions”, drawing on retailer listings, gives the 6-inch pad as 5.25″ × 6.5″ — 13.3 cm × 16.5 cm. That is not a rounding difference from the manufacturer’s 6″ × 7″. It describes a different pad.

Суть в закономерности, и к этому моменту она должна выглядеть знакомой: for the same named product, three layers publish three different answers, and the layer that reaches the buyer first is the least authoritative one. On latex it was registry versus manufacturer. Here it is manufacturer versus retail. In both cases the number that surfaces in a search result is the one least likely to survive scrutiny.

Take the case of a 6-inch line quoted from a marketplace listing at 5.25″ × 6.5″ against cartons of the manufacturer’s 6″ × 7″ product. A customs declaration and a tender response are both documents somebody else checks later against the goods. If the pad dimension on your paperwork came from a marketplace listing and the carton contains the manufacturer’s product, the two do not match — and the mismatch surfaces at the least convenient point in the transaction: at inspection, at delivery, or in a dispute where the written specification is the only thing anyone will read. Nobody acted in bad faith. The number came from the wrong layer.

One caution in the other direction, because this section is easy to over-read. Both Safeguard pads above measure 7 inches on the long side, which looks like a rule. It is a pattern in one manufacturer’s published line, across two sizes. Abdominal variants in this category use a completely different pad geometry, and one manufacturer’s line has never been a category rule.

The Three-Constraint Screen: choosing a line item

The Three-Constraint Screen: latex declaration, registered expiry, specification verifiability

Ограничивает ли аккаунт латекс, и нужна ли ему цитируемое declaration or just a latex-free product? If it wants a citable declaration, the survivors are Israeli, ETD and H-Bandage, and OLAES is the one that moves to “ask the manufacturer”. If it just wants a latex-free product, the manufacturer pages answer it and OLAES is the one that answers.

Can you obtain the manufacturer’s controlled specification for the exact size you are quoting, and can you find the device in the registry to check it against? For the Emergency Bandage, remember that the registry entry is under a different company name than the product page.

Yes — full dimensional data 3 / 3
OLAES® Modular Bandage
Rusun TacMed

Two things in that table are worth saying out loud.

The product that scores three is ETD — and it gets there without publishing a single latex or shelf-life sentence on its own website. Every cell it fills is filled from the registry. A buyer working only from manufacturer pages would have scored it lowest of the four; a buyer working from the registry scores it highest. Same product, same week, opposite conclusions, and the only variable is which layer you read.

Our own row fills the latex cell by declaring the disqualifying answer. We contain latex, we say so, and that eliminates us from every latex-restricted account described above. Filling a cell and passing a constraint are different things. The row is here because it shows publishing all three figures is not difficult — which makes the blanks in the four rows above a choice rather than a limitation.

Take the case of a school district asking for 5,000 bleeding-control dressings across sixty cabinets, latex-free declaration mandatory, five-year contract with a stated rotation plan.

Run the Three-Constraint Screen in order.

Constraint 1. The tender says declaration, so the registry is the operative layer. Israeli, ETD and H-Bandage clear it. OLAES — the product a page-level comparison would have named first — is the one eliminated.

Constraint 2. The tender wants a rotation plan, which runs on printed expiry dates. Of the three survivors, only ETD carries one in its device record. The Emergency Bandage’s eight-year claim is a website figure with no registered expiry behind it; H-Bandage has neither.

Constraint 3. ETD publishes complete dimensional data on its own product page.

ETD takes all three, and it is the only one that does. Note how little of that came from the place most buyers look: NAR’s product page says nothing about latex and nothing about shelf life. Both answers came from the device registry, and the whole exercise takes about twenty minutes.

Now the honest part. Had this same tender been written as “supply latex-free dressings” rather than “supply dressings with a latex-free declaration”, constraint 1 would have pointed at OLAES instead, and the answer would have changed completely. The wording of the requirement selects the evidence layer, and the evidence layer selects the product. That is the real question this page answers, and it is why “which bandage is best” has no answer worth writing down.

Four pressure applicator types compared: pressure bar, pressure cup, sewn cinch and no applicator

What comes out the other end depends on the account, not on which bandage is “best”:

  • For accounts wanting a citable latex declaration — institutional and public-sector → ETD as the line item, Israeli-type as the alternate. Both clear on the registry; ETD additionally carries a registered expiry date, and NAR’s flat, low-cube packaging is what changes cartons per pallet, which is the number that moves landed cost.
  • Accounts wanting a latex-free product without a documentation trail → OLAES as the line item. Its page states latex-free construction, and its extra contents — packing gauze, occlusive sheet — mean one SKU covers more scenarios, which cuts line count.
  • Military, EMS and general resale where the design is already familiar → an Israeli-type bandage as the line item. We build an Israeli-type bandage for this slot, and the latex answer for ours is in the table above, in writing, before you ask.
  • H-Bandage → hold as an alternate. It clears the latex constraint on the registry, but no first-party specification could be located, and you should not commit a line to a product whose dimensions you cannot check against a controlled document.

Note what this does to the usual framing. A search for an israeli bandage alternative normally returns a feature list; the screen turns it into a constraint question, and the answer changes by account rather than by product. The same applies to any trauma bandage comparison that ranks four items on one axis — the axis is the problem, not the ranking.

Name one line item and one alternate, then write down the constraint that decided it and which layer you read it from. That sentence survives staff turnover. A feature comparison does not.

What to specify: turning the Three-Constraint Screen into an RFQ line

Наш сайт inquiry form has five fields: name, email, phone, company and message. It has no dedicated fields for any of the requirements above, so all of them belong in the message. Write these six things and a supplier can return a comparable quotation instead of a brochure:

1. Latex requirement — and specify which kind: a latex-free product, or a latex-free declaration you can cite. They select different suppliers.

2. Controlled specification sheet — whether you need the manufacturer’s own specification for the exact size, rather than a listing

3. Minimum acceptable remaining shelf life — and whether the date must be printed on the unit, not just claimed

4. Quantity band and pack format — flat-fold or rolled changes cartons per pallet, which changes landed cost

5. Целевой рынок — this drives registration and compliance, not just shipping

6. OEM or private label — say so explicitly, because the naming position differs for every product on this page

That last point deserves its own sentence. OLAES, Israeli Bandage and H-Bandage are other companies’ trademarks. If you intend to sell under your own brand, settle the naming question before samples, not after.

Which of the six carry the weight depends on the account. For accounts that are institutional or public-sector, items 1 and 3 are the disqualifiers — a supplier who cannot produce a citable declaration and a dated unit is out before price is discussed. For resale and private-label accounts, item 6 moves first, because the naming position decides whether the product can carry your brand at all. For military and EMS lines where the design is already specified, items 4 and 5 dominate, and the rest are confirmations.

Take the case of the school district tender above. Written out, the message field reads:

Requirement: 5,000 emergency trauma dressings, 4 inches, for sixty fixed bleeding-control cabinets.

  1. Latex: a цитируемая декларация об отсутствии латекса is mandatory — a product-page statement is not sufficient. State the registry entry or the declaration document you can supply.
  2. Specification: manufacturer’s controlled specification sheet for the exact size quoted, not a listing.
  3. Shelf life: minimum 36 months remaining on delivery, with the expiry date printed on each unit.
  4. Quantity and format: 5,000 units, flat-fold preferred; state units per carton and cartons per pallet.
  5. Destination: United States, institutional end user.
  6. Branding: supplied under manufacturer branding; no private label required.

Six lines, and every one of them is a question a brochure cannot answer.

What comes back tells you as much as the answers themselves. A supplier who answers the latex question in writing has cleared constraint 1 for you; a supplier who replies with a catalogue has not. Score every reply against the same three constraints, and keep the written statements with the quotation — at tender time, those sentences are the only part of the conversation you can quote.

The decision to make before you send it. Decide which of the three constraints is mandatory for this account and which two are preferences, and say so in the message. A supplier who knows that a citable latex declaration is the disqualifier will tell you in the first reply whether they can serve the account at all. A supplier handed six equally weighted requirements will send a brochure, because a brochure is the only document that answers all six without committing to any of them.

The four products on this page have been stable for years. What has moved is not the hardware — it is how much of it is written down, and where.

The design argument was settled long ago. These are mature, well understood, clinically uncontroversial devices, and no serious buyer chooses between them on whether a bar beats a cup. What has not settled is documentation, and this page found the gap in an unusual place: not between good disclosure and bad, but between two layers of disclosure that contradict each other. Three manufacturers publish nothing about latex on their websites while having filed the declaration federally. One publishes the claim and has not filed it. Nobody is hiding anything; the two layers are simply maintained by different departments answering different questions.

Two forces keep widening that gap. Institutional buyers keep adding mandatory declaration lines — latex, sterilization method, expiry basis — to tenders that ten years ago asked for a product name and a quantity. Meanwhile the retail layer keeps growing as the first place a specification gets read, which is how a marketplace pad dimension ends up in a customs declaration. The buyer sits between a requirement written in regulatory language and a search result written in sales language.

In practice the skill worth having is no longer knowing which bandage is better. It is knowing which of the three layers answers the question you have actually been asked — and being able to get to the registry layer in twenty minutes when the tender wording demands it.

Prices reflect how little of this is about the device. Listings recorded for the comparison queries in August 2026 ran from $0.94 to $58 per unit, a spread of nearly sixty to one for products that do the same job in the same way.

The question mixes two things. “Israeli bandage” is a Safeguard Medical trademark and, loosely, the market’s name for a whole design built by several manufacturers — so a brand ranking compares unlike products. For a stocking decision, rank the published constraints instead: a citable latex declaration, a registered expiry date, and a specification you can quote back to the supplier. The brand that clears your account’s constraints is the best brand for you.

Listings surfaced for the comparison queries in August 2026 ran from $0.94 to $58 per unit. The spread is not tightness or quality magic — it buys documentation: a latex declaration you can cite, a date printed on the unit, a controlled specification sheet. A low-priced listing without those three is not a saving; it is a question you will have to answer yourself at tender or at delivery.

No manufacturer publishes a comparable pressure figure, so “tighter” has no public, checkable answer. The two designs lock pressure differently — H-shaped cinch versus pressure bar — and applied pressure depends on the person wrapping. Write the specification by manufacturer and product name; do not write “tightness” into a tender line.
